Heading north from Praia D’El Rey, but still within the district of Leiria, you come across one of the finest examples of Portuguese fishing villages, Nazaré.  With its distinctive atmosphere of times gone by, it evokes traditions of early settlers to the area.Leiria, the regions main town has its own charms and plentiful history, with its castle and old quarter well worth a visit.  Within its confines there is an
abundance of local artisan wares, particularly glasswork, for which it is famous. Being the geographical hub that it is Leiria also gives easy access to other historical tourist destinations towns such as Coimbra, Figueira da Foz, Alcobaça, Fatima and Batalha.

On top of all this there is still a lot of opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the property market as new developments are being aproved and applied for at ever increasing rates this is true in fact for the whole of the central Portugal region.
